Hampton Springs Ruins

Just under a 30 minute drive from the Captain’s Hideaway is the historic ruins of the Hampton Springs Hotel. Built in 1908, the mineral spring was said to have healing properties. The hotel even had their bottling plan and shipped the healing sulphur water nationwide.

We took a drive over the the historic Hampton Springs hotel ruins. This once luxurious hotel boasted the healing power of the sulfur springs. Built in the early 1900s and sadly burnt down in the 1950s. The now historic location is a great place for a picnic and there are hiking trails on the other side of the river.

Enjoy the video from our recent visit.

We Struck Water

The well has been drilled and we are searching for a kiddy pool! (well not really)

After several days of drilling, pouring concrete, waiting for parts to come in, installing the pump, laying pipe and much more, we have water! If only there was a spot for a pool because these almost summer afternoons have been beautiful and we don’t think there has ever been a cloud in the sky.

Traveling Robert, Average Campers and the Lemons over for our first Taco Tuesday 🌮
The pergola is coming along nicely and the raised flower garden bed is almost finished!

Expected “soft” opening is hopefully within the next couple weeks. We will let you know as soon as we feel comfortable with a date and open booking. You will be able to book with us via Airbnb.

We explored the area and found ruins of a historic luxury hotel from the early 1900s!

We Welcomed Our First Guests Last Week

Last week was a busy week indeed for The Captain’s Hideaway. We installed a fence in the cleared area that the power pole went. We moved our camper over to the first site, welcomed our first guests and much more!

Our lovely neighbor to the south had a pile of rocks that needed clearing so let us introduce you to our new and improved fire pit!

Celebrating our 3 year wedding anniversary around the fire ❤️

We installed the second power pedestal this past week as we have friends, our second guests, staying with us. The remaining 2 sites will have power within the next week.

The water well has been scheduled and hopefully drilled this week as well. The final big project will be to add some road base to each site and the turn around in the back of the property.

Expected opening in hopefully within the next month. We will let you know as soon as we feel comfortable with a date and open booking.

Septic and Electric Are In!

We are so excited at the progress happening at The Captain’s Hideaway and even more so at how excited all of y’all are about it too! Here’s a peak at some more happenings from the past few weeks.

Thanks again to those contributed to our Indiegogo campaign! Even though didn’t meet our goal, things are still moving along… A few of you have been asking about it so we are considering to doing another campaign to help build the barn to house the laundry and facilities. Otherwise that wont happen until after the season is finished up here!

Expected opening is still to be by late Spring. If the barn doesn’t happen, we will get all Pintresty creative and do something cool for an outdoor shower/bathroom. I know many of you are asking when you can start booking. We will let you know as soon as we feel comfortable with a date.

Campsites Are Coming Along

Work is coming along at The Captain’s Hideaway. Electric is being set up and septic is getting installed at the end of this week.

We’re searching for a good priced barn for the public facilities as well as laundry. We’re also researching a solar energy system to start with and one that is expandable in the future! Expected opening is still to be by Spring, late spring.

Thank you everyone who contributed to our Indiegogo campaign! We appreciate each and every penny. Even though we didn’t meet our goal, doesn’t mean the project isn’t still happening! It will just take a little bit longer.

Your kind pledges are being used towards the campsite’s electrical system.
